Gossypium was founded in 1998 and opened one of the U.K's first Organic & Fairtrade clothing shops on Lewes High Street in the Summer of 2000.

Gossypium has since established itself as one of the leading alternative clothing brands in the UK and also Internationally.

Gossypium Shareholding and T Shares

In creating the shareholding for our company, with the remit to build ethics robustly into the structure of our company, we have created a Council for our shareholders to which all present and future Directors are answerable to, but not bound by. Every question must be answered and every suggestion respectfully considered. Council members are self-selecting and invited, and have areas of speciality ranging from professors in global development to specialists in ethical marketing, spirituality and fashion, and include customers and staff.

About our T shares
T shares are limited in number and their long term value is subsequently determined by this. Enough T shares have been issued for approximately 350 investors, this being the size of an ideal village. T shares are dividend ordinary shares as we believe in generating good profits; they are the consequence of good business. Meanwhile, our T shares are "non-voting" to free the shareholders from lowering their concerns to simply finance and power. We have retained our power as Directors and trust that if we stray, our T shareholders will reinforce our company objectives. Due to the complexity of our triple bottom line however, we retain the right to take final decisions in our Executive roles.
